RHR rabbis and volunteers visit the bomb-shelters in Qiriat Bialik

On Tisha B’Av, August 3, 2006, 11 RHR rabbis and volunteers visited RHR members rabbis Maurizio Balter and Mira Regev, who live in the north of Israel, for a day of prayer and reading of Megilat Eicha. They were briefed about the situation by Qiriat Bialik mayor, and visited several bomb-shelters to distribute toys for the children living in them for over three weeks. A condolence visit was canceled for security reasons.

Following this visit various factors at Qiriat Bialik municipality expressed their interest in RHR work and asked us to work in the municipal education system. In addition, a group of volunteers have asked us to organize a study day to learn about the character of the state they are about to defend and fight for.

Back in Jerusalem we held an afternoon gathering at the Dari home in Isawia, to express our hope to the ending of the Khurban (destruction) taking place in the north of Israel, in the south, in Lebanon, in the Occupied Territories, in Gaza and in the “un-recognized” villages. We raised a prayer and a cry for saving the Dari family house.
