RHR demonstrates for Social Justice

This week the annual Cesarea Conference took place at the Regency hotel in Jerusalem (the Cesarea Conference is the annual meeting of the Cesarea Forum, in which are members politicians and capital owners). As every year, the Forum of Organizations Against Unemployment has organized protest activities vis-à-vis the conference, which we see as problematic.

We demonstrated in front of the hotel on Tuesday afternoon, June 20, 2006, and demonstrators entered the lobby of the hotel, which led to conflict with the police and violence towards one of the demonstrators.

The demonstration was successful and was widely covered in the media, as almost all the communication networks which covered the Cesarea Conference made sure to include interviews with representatives of social justice organizations and receive answers to essential questions regarding the conference, the relationship between government and capital, and increasing economic divide which is the result of existing economic policies. Our Director of Economic Justice Programs, Rabbi Idit Lev, was one of those interviewed.

We thank all participants and we’ll be glad to see you at other activities of the social justice department.

Please contact us if you would like to receive an important court decision this week on the subject of the Israeli Wisconsin Plan.
