RHR officiates at memorial service for victims of the 2007 State Budget

Rabbi Arik Ascherman and members of the board of directors of Rabbis for Human Rights officiated on January 2, 2007 at the mock “funeral” for the potential victims of the 2007 Israel State Budget. The funeral set out from Rabin Square in central Tel Aviv. The 2007 State Budget that the Knesset passed on January 3, 2007 will leave thousands of Israelis without the possibility of obtaining live saving medicines, 2nd other treatments that can improve quality of life.

After sitting in the protest tent for a week, health, human rights and social organizations called on the Government to allocate another NIS 300 million for the “basket” of medicines in 2007 and to institute an automatic 2% annual increase to cover demographic changes and new technology.
