Rabbi Paul Arberman

Rabbi Paul ArbermanRabbi Paul Arberman is the spiritual director of the Yedid Nefesh Masorti Conservative Congregation in Modiin Israel. Rabbi Arberman is active in the fight against Human Trafficking in Israel, and the rights of Reform, Conservative, and egalitarian groups to have a sacred space to worship in the area of the Western Wall (Kotel) in Jerusalem. He has done extensive research on The Jewish Attitude Towards Non-Violent Protest and Civil Disobedience, and is the author of Sarvanut L’or Hahalakhah, Conscientious Objection according to the Jewish Law.

Rabbi Arberman earned a degree in government from Wesleyan University and worked for then Rep. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.). Rabbi Arberman was ordained in December 2002 as a Conservative rabbi after attending the Jewish Theological Seminary-affiliated Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem. After his ordination, Rabbi Arberman was the spiritual leader of the Bet Yisrael congregation in Netanya.

Rabbi Arberman is a native of Brooklyn New York.
