Rabbi Michael J. Schwartz
Rabbi Michael J. Schwartz is director of resources and development for RHR.
During 2004-2006, Rabbi Schwartz was the seventh Rabbi of the The United Jewish Congregation of Hong Kong (UJC), where he was instrumental in encouraging Reform, Liberal, Conservative, and other non-Orthodox Jews in Hong Kong to participate in Jewish life to the fullest.Before traveling to Hong Kong, Rabbi Schwartz was founding director of Rabbis for Human Rights’ Yeshiva Program and coordinator of the organization’s volunteers. He served on the RHR board as a student representative of the Schechter Institute for Jewish Studies, where he earned rabbinical ordination in 2001. Rabbi Schwartz has trained Jewish educators, worked on informal Jewish education projects, and taught high school students, college students, and adults in various frameworks both in Israel and abroad. He and his wife, Tamar, are the parents of Binyamin and Yarden.
